ABOUT COMS

A Typical Day

“Character formation cannot be taught. It comes from experience and not from explanation.”

- Dr. Maria Montessori

Day begins
Our staggered drop-off times allow children to arrive with their classmates. Children remain within their class cohort throughout the day.

Morning activities
During morning session, children participate in group circle time, have an extended work period in their prepared Montessori classroom, enjoy snack and outside time.

Lunch
Lunch, prepared on campus in our commercial kitchen, is an integral part of our program, . Served family-style, with grace and courtesies encouraged, children share a vegetarian meal together, followed by clean up.

Afternoon activities
Willow and Mulberry children nap in their classrooms after lunch. Upon waking, they enjoy snack, classroom work time as well as time outside.

Sequoia and Maple children continue their day with exploration of inside and outside environments, as well as group activities and snack.

End of Day and Aftercare options
Staggered pick-up times allow children from each class to leave campus with their cohort.

For children staying on campus beyond their class day, aftercare is offered. This is a time for children to wind down after a busy day with stories, snack, arts and crafts and other activities.

“My favorite thing about school is that there are friends to play with that are nice to me.”
