ABOUT COMS

Our Community

Where every day is Earth Day

We welcome children ages 18 months to six years old, including kindergarten year. College Oak Montessori School maintains a program based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of child development and education.

Our goal is to promote independence and responsibility while allowing children to experience the joy of learning at a young age.

COMS is open Monday through Thursday
with staggered drop-off and pick-up times for each class. Our academic year runs from the end of August through the beginning of June, closing on major holidays, winter and spring breaks, and one week before the academic year. Additionally, we incorporate a flex-week into our academic year to accommodate unforeseen school closures.

We also offer a fun-filled summer program.

The campus offers a variety of outdoor spaces.
Children play on our large climbing structure made of recycled plastic, care for chickens, plant and harvest food from our organic gardens, observe butterflies and other critters on our nature trail and run in our huge grass yard.

At COMS every day is Earth Day. Children eat wholesome snacks and lunches on china plates, using cloth napkins and placemats. A vegetarian hot lunch, made on campus in our commercial kitchen, is served family style from reusable containers. Food scraps are composted on campus to help nourish our gardens. Children and staff reuse, reduce and recycle every day to care for our school and our global community. On April 22, Earth Day, we throw a party to celebrate our wonderful planet.
